The five pillars are the foundation of Muslim life. They are the declaration of faith, prayer, almsgiving, fasting, and pilgrimage.

"There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is His Messenger."
The Shahada is the entry point into Islam. Reciting it with sincere conviction makes one a Muslim. It encapsulates tawhid โ the absolute oneness of Allah โ and prophethood.
Muslims pray five times daily: Fajr (dawn), Dhuhr (midday), Asr (afternoon), Maghrib (sunset), and Isha (night). Prayer is direct communication with Allah, a means of remembrance and gratitude.
The Prophet ๏ทบ said: "The key to Paradise is prayer, and the key to prayer is purification." (Ahmad)
Zakat is the obligatory annual charity โ 2.5% of qualifying wealth held for one lunar year above the nisab threshold. It purifies wealth and supports the community.
Allah says (Quran 2:177): "Righteousness is... giving wealth, despite love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveller, those who ask, and for freeing slaves."
Fasting during Ramadan (the 9th month of the Islamic calendar) is obligatory for every sane, healthy, adult Muslim. It teaches discipline, gratitude, and empathy.
The pilgrimage to Makkah is required once in a lifetime for those who are physically and financially able. It is the largest annual gathering of humanity, symbolising unity and submission.
